New Mexico adds defender Kyle Colonna

Center back made 52 appearances for San Diego State collegiately, joins professional ranks

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Tuesday the club had signed defender Kyle Colonna ahead of its 2023 USL Championship campaign. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Colonna joins the professional ranks in New Mexico having spent the past four seasons at San Diego State University. The 6-foot-3 center back made 52 appearances for the Aztecs in his career, logging 4,071 minutes of action, and recorded three goals and one assist.  

The 23-year-old also competed in USL League Two for the San Francisco Glens in the 2019 season where he made five appearances and logged one goal for the side. Prior to his college career, Colonna competed at Monte Vista High School in Danville, Calif., and was voted an All-Region First Team selection as he helped his side win a CIF Regional Championship.
