San Diego Loyal SC defender Kyle Adams and Charleston Battery defender Deklan Wynne have been called up by the New Zealand Men’s National Team for a pair of contests against China in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand during the upcoming FIFA international window.

Both players remain part of the New Zealand squad after being selected for the country’s pair of contests against Australia last September. Wynne earned his 15th cap for his country in that trip and made a strong debut for the Battery this past Saturday night completing 36 of 41 passes and recording three chances created in the side’s 1-1 draw with Phoenix Rising FC.

Adams will be aiming to make his senior national team debut this month after helping SD Loyal earn victory in its Championship opener on Saturday night against Detroit City FC. The 26-year-old Auckland native played a role in the only goal of the game for the hosts, scored by Jackson Kasanzu, while winning 2 of 2 duels and 2 of 3 aerial duels and completing 61 of 72 passes in San Diego’s 1-0 win.

“All of the players can’t wait for the opportunity to play at home again, this time for a full FIFA window” said interim New Zealand Head Coach Darren Bazeley. “The players had a taste of playing on home soil last year vs Australia and are looking forward to once again playing in front of our home fans, both in Auckland and down in Wellington.

“This series gives us the opportunity to start the new World Cup cycle off and get our home fans excited about what is to come for this squad.”

New Zealand will face China on Thursday, March 23 at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland before the two sides square off again on Sunday, March 26 at Sky Stadium in Wellington to complete the series.
