LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Tuesday the club has acquired midfielder Abdoul Zanne on loan from ASEC Mimosas for the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

The upcoming campaign will mark Zanne’s second with Loudoun, with the 20-year-old having recorded two goals and two assists in 26 appearances for the club on loan a season ago. Zanne recorded eight shots on target and 20 chances created in 1,250 minutes of action for the club.

“We’re thrilled to have Zanne back for the 2023 season,” said Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He’s a hard worker with a winning mentality. He is exciting on the ball and is hungry to become a top player in the league. He is still very young, so our staff is excited to see his growth this season.”

The Ivory Coast native previously joined Loudoun on loan from ASEC Mimosas on Apr. 1, 2022. He made his debut against Oakland Roots on April 17, recording an assist in a loss, and then scored his first goal against Birmingham Legion FC on April 24.

ASEC Mimosas is an Ivorian football club based in Abidjan. Founded in 1948, the prestigious club has produced many world class footballers including Yaya Toure and Salomon Kalou.
