Club unveils custom designs from Hummel as it prepares for 30th anniversary campaign

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Battery unveiled the club’s 2023 Primary and Secondary Kits ahead of its 30th anniversary season on Monday.

The uniforms, wholly designed in-house by the club and produced by global sportswear leader hummel, feature elements of past Battery kits as part of the anniversary celebration.

Drawing inspiration from the jerseys worn in the early 2000s, the Primary Kit features elements that evoke the city of Charleston’s rich history. That recognition is made via an iron gate pattern that’s subtly incorporated into the club’s iconic black and yellow stripes and along the shoulders. Black and yellow are the main colors of the shirt, with red – which has been part of the Battery’s brand since the inaugural season – as an accent color.

The Secondary Kit makes similar callbacks to the team’s history with the design being firmly rooted in the team's 1993 and 1994 uniforms. Like those inaugural kits, white, black and red are the main colors with a striped design. The iron gate pattern is featured again, but in the shirt’s collar and sleeve ends.

The Battery will wear their new primary kit this Saturday as they open their 2023 USL Championship campaign against Phoenix Rising FC at Patriots Point. The club also announced it is set to reveal its 2023 Alternate Kit on Thursday ahead of the home opener.
