Birmingham Legion FC has acquired center back Ben Reveno on loan from the New England Revolution ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Legion FC announced on Saturday the club had acquired defender Ben Reveno on loan from Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Reveno is in his second professional season after being selected in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by New England. The California native made his pro debut for the Revs last May, starting against fellow MLS side New York City FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, before spending the majority of the season with New England’s MLS NEXT Pro reserve team.

“We’re excited to add Ben to our group,” said Jay Heaps, Legion FC President and General Manager. “He’s a talented, versatile player that will strengthen our team in multiple positions.”

Prior to being drafted, the 23-year-old began his collegiate career at UC Irvine, where he played in 2017 and 2018, before transferring to UCLA from 2019-2021. While with the Bruins he made 49 appearances and earned a spot on the 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region Second Team. Growing up in San Jose, Reveno played for the San Jose Earthquakes academy for three years.

“I’m really excited to get going with this team,” said Reveno. “They are a great group of guys, and I think we can accomplish a lot together this season!”
