INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven announced on Wednesday the club had acquired Cuban defender Adrián Diz Pe via transfer from fellow USL Championship club FC Tulsa. Per club policy, terms of the agreement that brings the center back to Indiana’s Team will not be released. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I’m very happy to get the opportunity to be with a great club in Indy Eleven,” said Diz Pe, who has reported to the Indy's Grand Park training center to begin practicing with his new squad. “I believe I’m in the right place and can add to a great team that can compete for a championship this season.”

Diz Pe joins the Boys in Blue after setting individual single-season highs during the past campaign in Tulsa. The 28-year-old recorded individual bests in appearances (30), starts (28), and minutes (2,497), and recorded 129 clearances, 61 interceptions and 200 recoveries. He also posted a 64.9 percent duel success rate, a 64.8 percent tackle success rate on 46 successful tackles, and a 76.9 percent success rate in aerial duels (83 of 108).

A native of Havana, Cuba, Diz Pe has made 102 appearances in the Championship overall, recording 8,190 minutes of action. Over that time, he has made 462 clearances, 187 interceptions and 567 recoveries and has posted a cumulative 64.1 percent duel success rate, 66.1 percent tackle success rate and a 75.4 percent aerial duel success rate.

“I’ve coached against Adrián for four seasons now, and each year his growth not only as a defender, but just as an overall footballer, has been evident,” said Indy Eleven Head Coach Mark Lowry. “He brings a size and physicality that can hardly be matched in this league and will provide a different dynamic on the backline and as an attacker on set pieces. We’re thrilled to get to work with Adrián to help him grow even more as he enters the prime years of his career.”

Prior to his arrival in the USL Championship with the Portland Timbers 2 in 2018, Diz Pe began his professional career playing for hometown side Ciudad de la Habana in 2012. He quickly moved up the ranks and into the Cuban Men’s National Team early in his career before defecting to the United States. He earned 13 senior caps for Los Leones del Caribe between 2012 and 2015, including appearances in the squad’s title run in the 2012 Caribbean Cup, the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying cycle and the 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup.
