TUCSON, Ariz. – Louisville City FC and New Mexico United played to a 2-2 draw on Thursday afternoon at the Desert Showcase presented by FC Tucson at the Kino Sports Complex after a back-and-forth preseason clash between the USL Championship sides.

LouCity opened the scoring inside the opening minute as the forward duo of Wilson Harris and Cam Lancaster combined to set up Harris for his second goal of the preseason. The game then settled into a back-and-forth as both teams created chances, and New Mexico leveled just past the half-hour mark as Sam Hamilton fired home a shot from the top of the penalty area, sending the game to the break even.

After both sides rotated extensively at the break, New Mexico took the lead six minutes into the second half when Chris Wehan first delivered a diagonal pass that found Daniel Bruce at the top of the LouCity penalty area and then followed his pass for a layoff that he shot high into the net.

LouCity responded with 16 minutes to go, however, as Amadou Dia’s cross found Brian Ownby to pull the defending Eastern Conference title holders level again.

“[Wilson’s] had a really good preseason to start already, and Brian's gotten back to get minutes in the last two games,” said LouCity Head Coach Danny Cruz. “Both are healthy at the moment, and we're happy with their progression.”

The result left LouCity undefeated through four games this preseason, while New Mexico opened its preseason slate with a positive result as both prepare for the upcoming campaign.
