PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Tuesday then club had acquired midfielder Carlos Harvey via transfer from Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy for an undisclosed fee. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I will give my best to Phoenix Rising,” said Harvey. “I’m a player that will sacrifice and prove myself to the fans with my desire, will and strength. I hope they come watch us give it our all and accomplish our goals. Our objective is to be champions this season.”

Harvey began his career with Tauro FC of the Panamanian First Division in October of 2018. He joined the Galaxy on loan from Tauro ahead of the 2019 season and played 19 matches for LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship that season, scoring two goals. Harvey completed his transfer to the Galaxy in February of 2019 and made 10 MLS appearances for the club in 2020-21.

“Carlos fits with our style of play,” said Rising FC Head Coach Juan Guerra. “His experience in the MLS, USL Championship and at the international level make him a great addition to our squad. His versatility, quality on the ball and athleticism will allow us to use him in different roles within our game model.”

During his time with LA, Harvey continued to compete on loan with the Galaxy II and has made 56 appearances across the USL Championship’s regular season and playoffs. During that span he has notched six goals and one assist while recording 85 interceptions and 299 recoveries and posting a duel success rate of 57.4 percent.

In addition to his club experience, Harvey has also appeared twice for the Panama Men’s National Team, making his debut against the U.S. Men’s National Team at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on January 27, 2019. The 23-year-old also made one appearance in the penultimate round of FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifying against Anguilla in 2021.
