LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Lights FC announced on Wednesday the club had appointed Isidro Sanchez as its new Head Coach ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season.

Sanchez’s appointment marks a return to the club for the 35-year-old, who served as Lights FC’s Head Coach during its inaugural season in 2018. Sanchez led Lights FC to early success, going undefeated in its opening four contests and claiming the Championship’s Coach of the Month award for March to open his tenure.

A challenging second half of the season saw the side fall out of playoff contention and Sanchez depart alongside Technical Director and father José Luis Sánchez Solá as Lights FC ended its inaugural season with a record of 8-19-7.

A former player for the Canada U-23 Men’s National Team, Sanchez has had numerous additional stops in his coaching career as an assistant to Sanchez Sola – more commonly known as El Chelis. In 2019 he served as an assistant coach at LigaMX club Puebla.

Sanchez has earned a U.S. Soccer ‘A’ Coaching License, and more recently earned his UEFA ‘A’ Coaching License in Spain.
