Cameroonian has made 32 appearances for Oakland over past two seasons

OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Friday the club had re-signed midfielder Joseph Nane, retaining the veteran Cameroonian for his third season at the club in the upcoming USL Championship campaign. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Nane joined Oakland midway through the 2021 season and has helped lead the club into the USL Championship Playoffs in each of its campaigns in the league. The 35-year-old has made 32 appearances for Roots SC across the regular season and playoffs, recording a passing accuracy rate of 85.1 percent in 1,640 minutes of action while notching 22 interceptions, 144 recoveries, winning 27 tackles, and posting a duel success rate of 58.1 percent.

A native of Yaounde, Cameroon, Nane has made more than 200 appearances in the professional ranks overall. He won the Canadian Championship as a member of Toronto FC in 2010, and also played in the United States for the Colorado Rapids, New York Cosmos and San Antonio Scorpions.
