MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC announced on Tuesday the club had signed defender Carson Vom Steeg to a multi-year contract ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I’m very excited to continue my career with Memphis 901 FC next season,” said Vom Steeg. “Head Coach Stephen Glass has a great record of player development. Along with a talented core group of guys and a winning culture, the decision was an easy one. I’m looking forward to adding to the recent success in efforts to bring a championship to this city.”

Vom Steeg made 21 starts at center back for Loudoun United FC during the 2022 season, recording 117 clearances and 43 interceptions defensively while posting an 88 percent passing accuracy rate.

The Santa Barbara, Calif., native had previously served as captain for the U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team from 2015-2017 before making 18 appearances for the 2017 NCAA National Champion Stanford Cardinal. Vom Steeg then transferred to UC Santa Barbara, where he made 22 appearances in two seasons.

“Carson is a young defender that we believe has great upside moving forward,” said 901 FC Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell. “He has great size, physicality and likes to get stuck into a challenge. We look forward to Carson getting to Memphis and helping us win games in 2023.”
