Loudoun United signs forward Kalil ElMedkhar

23-year-old made five appearances for FC Dallas in 2022 season, brings prior League One experience

LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Thursday the club had signed forward Kalil ElMedkhar ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“Kalil is a very gifted attacking wide player,” said Loudoun United Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He has great ability to go 1 v 1 or run in behind the backline. He has had experience in MLS matches and we’re excited for him to show his quality by creating goals and assists this upcoming USL season.”

In 2022, ElMedkhar appeared in six matches and played a total of 118 minutes in the MLS regular season for FC Dallas. The Homegrown signing was also a key player while on loan at North Texas SC during the 2021 USL League One season, where he made 13 regular-season appearances and played 1,047 minutes and led the team with five assists while also finding the back of the net four times.

Prior to his professional career, ElMedkhar played collegiate soccer at the University of Kentucky. He appeared in 66 matches for the Wildcats, recording 20 goals and 21 assists throughout his college career. He was named to United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team and All-Conference USA First Team in 2018 and 2019. Prior to the start of his junior year, ElMedkhar was named C-USA Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year, to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and the C-USA Preseason Team.
