EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Friday the club had signed goalkeeper Javier Garcia ahead of the upcoming USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“Garcia is a young goalkeeper full of commitment and desire to give everything for our club,” said Locomotive FC Goalkeepers Coach JC Garzon. “His aggressiveness and shot stopping showed us his talent and we knew he’d be a great fit for the squad.”

Garcia comes to El Paso after spending the previous two seasons with fellow USL Championship club Rio Grande Valley FC. This past campaign he made six appearances and recorded two shutouts for the Toros, posting a 1.00 goals-against average while recording 16 saves and a save percentage of 72.7 percent to help the Toros reach the postseason.

The 24-year-old was nominated twice for USL Championship Save of the Week (Week 14 and 18) and once for Save of the Month (June) in the 2022 season.
