Miami FC announces arrival of forward Michael Salazar

MIAMI – Miami FC announced on Tuesday the club had signed forward Michael Salazar to a multi-year contract ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Salazar joins Miami having spent the past campaign in the Championship with the LA Galaxy II. The 30-year-old recorded five goals and three assists in 27 appearances for Los Dos, and had 36 shots and 17 shots on target in 1,808 minutes of action. Salazar also recorded 37 chances created and won 17 of 20 tackles defensively.

A Belize international, Salazar has made 17 appearances for his country, recording a pair of goals since his debut in 2013. This past year he appeared in a pair of games for the Jaguars, and has previously appeared in the Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League.

Salazar first competed in the Championship in 2016 for FC Montreal on loan from Major League Soccer’s Club de Foot Montreal after being selected in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. He has made 94 appearances in the Championship’s regular season overall, also competing in recent seasons for Rio Grande Valley FC and Memphis 901 FC, and has notched 23 goals and nine assists in his career overall.
