DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Monday the club had re-signed goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher to a one-year contract ahead of the new USL Championship season with an option for the 2024 campaign. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Steinwascher made his debut for Detroit City FC in 2016, away to Louisville City FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Since then, the Sterling Heights, Mich. native has appeared for the club in every season, first in the club’s pre-professional era before it joined the professional ranks in 2020.

In Detroit City FC’s professional era (2020-present), Steinwascher sits third in minutes (5,913) and is tied for second in starts (67). This past campaign, DCFC’s first in the USL Championship, he tied for third in the Championship’s regular season with 12 shutouts and fourth in the league’s regular season and playoffs with 92 saves while delivering a save percentage of 75.2 percent.

As a reward for his stellar performance throughout the course of the season, Steinwascher was voted as Detroit City FC’s 2022 Black Arrow MVP award winner, further etching his place in club history.
