Ben Ofeimu re-signs with Miami FC

22-year-old defender agrees new multi-year contract after making 17 appearances in past campaign

MIAMI, Fla. – Miami FC announced on Friday the club had re-signed defender Ben Ofeimu to a multi-year contract extension. The 22-year-old will return for his second season in the 305 in the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Ofeimu made 17 appearances in the Championship this past season and tied for second on the team with 13 blocked shots in the campaign. The former Philadelphia Union Academy product also ranked third on the team with 59 clearances and recorded 13 interceptions as he helped Miami record eight shutouts in his 17 appearances.

A native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Ofeimu began his professional career in the Championship with the Philadelphia Union II in 2018 and went on to make 48 appearances for the side, including two postseason appearances in his first campaign. In 2021, Ofeimu joined Birmingham Legion FC, where he made 15 appearances and recorded 35 clearances, 13 interceptions and nine blocked shots while winning 8 of 10 tackles.

In his career, Ofeimu has made 80 appearances in the Championship across the regular season and playoffs and has notched three goals and one assist in 6,217 minutes of action.
