San Antonio re-signs midfielder David Loera

Scored two goals in 14 appearances during injury-shortened campaign for title winners

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Friday it had re-signed midfielder David Loera ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Loera recorded two goals in 14 appearances during the 2022 season, scoring in each match he went the full 90 minutes in and finishing sixth on the team in minutes per goal with 315. The midfielder posted a 73.6% passing accuracy rate, good for fourth on the team.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with David here at SAFC,” said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. “David was challenged with injuries, however he always demonstrated a high-level commitment to our team identity. We are eager to see more of his game-changing qualities as we defend our championship title.”

A native of Zaragoza, Spain, the 24-year-old completed for Orlando City SC’s Academy – during which time he made his debut in the USL Championship as a USL Academy signings in the 2016 season. He went on to compete at North Carolina State University, while also appearing in USL League Two for Simas Aguilas and North Carolina FC U23.

In 2020 he signed as a Homegrown Player with Orlando City SC, and in addition to making three appearances in Major League Soccer he also featured on loan in the USL Championship for Phoenix Rising FC during the 2021 USL Championship season.
