TULSA, Okla. – FC Tulsa announced on Thursday that Dario Suarez – one of the club’s most prolific goalscorers in its history – will return for his fourth season in 2023.

In only three seasons with FC Tulsa, Suarez has soared up the all-time franchise leaderboard in virtually every attacking statistic available. Suárez’s 27 goals and 10 assists for Tulsa are both tied for the second-most in club history while his mark of 0.45 goals per 90 minutes played is the best among players with at least 2,200 minutes logged. This past season, Suarez was voted Tulsa’s Offensive Player of the Year.

“Darío is an exciting, versatile attacking piece with a proven track record of scoring goals,” said FC Tulsa Head Coach Blair Gavin. “His ability to be in the right place at the right time along with his finishing quality is incredibly valuable. We are thrilled to have Darío back to establish a dangerous goal-scoring front line.”

Suárez enters the new campaign on the heels of another fantastic season in which the Cuban finished as FC Tulsa’s joint-highest scorer with nine goals and ranked first on the club with five assists. There were two separate stretches last year in which he scored in three consecutive matches as Suárez rippled the back of the net in six of Tulsa’s final nine matches of 2022.

The former Cuban international began career in the Pearl of the Antilles before defecting to the United States during the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Suárez signed with AFC Ann Arbor in 2016 to kick start his U.S. career and later made the move to Miami FC in 2018. Ultimately, Suárez would sign for FC Tulsa ahead of the 2020 season where he has provided a consistent attacking threat for the past three seasons.

“This club and city have welcomed me as one of them since the beginning,” said Suárez. “I am very happy to return and give everything I have on the field to win titles. I am preparing to have the best year of my career – see you soon, Tulsa.”
