Championship Player of the Month Nominees – August

Five standouts grabbed the spotlight during the past month of the season, which gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball for August, honoring five of the top performers throughout the past month of the 2022 season as they take their place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, September 12 at 12 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.

  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, September 15.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – August 2022

Juan Agudelo, Birmingham Legion FC – The former United States international tied for the league-high with four goals and added a pair of assists in five appearances for Legion FC, with his all-around performances earning a league-best +2.46 Goals Added mark during the month.

Luis Solignac, El Paso Locomotive FC – The Argentine striker recorded four goals and one assist in four appearances in August, while also completing 64 of 78 passes (82.1% accuracy) to log a +2.34 Goals Added mark, good for third-highest in the league across the month.

Rodrigo Lopez, Sacramento Republic FC – The Republic FC legend tied for the league-high with four assists and notched one goal in four appearances for the side in league action, while also recording 12 chances created and completing 117 of 151 passes.

Connor Sparrow, Miami FC – Sparrow recorded 14 saves and four shutouts in five appearances, recording a save percentage of 87.5 percent and a goals-minus-expected goals mark of -1.38 as Miami pushed toward a berth in the postseason.

Aaron Molloy, Memphis 901 FC – The Irish midfielder tied for the league-high with four assists and led the league with 25 chances created in August while also adding a pair of goals and completing 276 of 343 passes (80.5% accuracy) as he played every minute of all six 901 FC games.
