Welcome to this week’s edition of the USL Championship News & Notes, where this week we look at a first in league history accomplished by a trio of Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC players, notable landmarks from two of the Championship’s longtime standouts, and the scorer of the 1,000th goal of the 2022 regular season.

All of that, plus the regular look at upcoming landmarks for players across the league and the weekly Discipline Report.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC ranks second in the USL Championship with 52 goals this regular season, but the club’s trio of Cam Lindley, Hadji Barry and Michee Ngalina have already achieved a first in the Championship’s history, becoming the first set of three teammates to all record at least eight assists in the same regular season.

Lindley currently leads the team – and sits one off the league led held by Memphis 901 FC’s Aaron Molloy – with nine assists, while both Barry and Ngalina have recorded eight assists apiece. Ngalina has matched his assists total from a season ago, while this is now a single-season career high for Barry.

Through Week 25, there have been 1,020 goals scored overall in the league across 354 games, an average of 2.88 per game. That currently matches the average number of goals per game in the Championship from a season ago, when a total of 1,426 goals were scored across 496 regular season contests.

Phoenix Rising FC’s Santi Moar became the seventh player to record at least 40 goals and 30 assists in the USL Championship’s regular season on Saturday night as he notched his 30th assist in his side’s contest against El Paso Locomotive FC.
