CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy II announced on Friday the club had appointed Marcelo Sarvas as its new Head Coach. The former Galaxy player and Academy coach succeeds Yoann Damet, who was promoted to the Galaxy’s Major League Soccer coaching staff under Head Coach Greg Vanney.

“We are pleased to name Marcelo as the head coach of LA Galaxy II,” said LA Galaxy Director of Methodology and Development Michael Muñoz. “As the Head Coach of our older teams within the academy, Marcelo has a strong understanding of our club’s philosophy and how to produce young pros. He has worked very closely with Yoann, his staff and the Galaxy II players throughout the course of the year and we are confident he will continue to strengthen the player pathway into the first team.”

Sarvas joined the LA Galaxy Academy in 2020 after previously spending time with the Colorado Rapids Academy (2019-20). The Sao Paulo, Brazil, native, who holds U.S. Soccer Federation “A” and “B” licenses, was named the LA Galaxy Academy U-19 Head Coach after leading the Galaxy Academy U-17s to the Round of 16 of the 2022 Generation adidas Cup and to the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs Round of 32.

In three seasons playing for the Galaxy (2012-14), Sarvas helped the Galaxy win MLS Cups in 2012 and 2014.
