Loudoun United acquires Moroccan youth international Hassan Aqboub

18-year-old joins club from Mohammed VI Football Academy, has competed at U-20 level for country


Loudoun United FC has acquired Moroccan youth international Hassan Aqboub on loan for the remainder of the 2022 USL Championship season.

LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Friday the club had acquired of Moroccan youth international Hassan Aqboub on loan from Mohammed VI Football Academy for the remainder of the 2022 USL Championship season.

The Mohammed VI Football Academy has previously been the proving ground for a number of top international talents, with its alumni including current Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri and West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd along with several Moroccan internationals currently playing in Spain, France and Belgium.

Born in Morocco, Aqboub has been a part of the Moroccan Youth National Teams at U15, U17 and U20 levels. In 2020, the 5-foot-8 winger participated in the prestigious Alkass International Cup held in Qatar, where his goal against Glasgow Rangers FC was voted Best Goal of the Tournament. Hassan was also awarded Man of the Match for the quarterfinal match of the Alkass International Cup before going on to feature against Real Madrid in the Semifinals and Paris St. Germain in the playoff for third place. 

“We are excited to add Hassan to the group,” said Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He is an exciting young attacker, who can play off the dribble or pass and create goals.”

The Moroccan joins a heavy African-influenced Loudoun United squad, with players from the Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria and Liberia all having competed for the side this season.
