The USL Championship closed in on the 1,000th goal of the 2022 regular season over the past week, with a week of action that delivered some more spectacular individual finishes and some outstanding team efforts that added to the season’s highlight reel. Connor Rutz (DET) – #BHMvDET, 8/17/22: The Michigan native catapulted into the No. 2 spot on ESPN’s Futbol Americas’ midweek countdown with a spectacular bicycle kick that helped Le Rouge take victory on the road in Birmingham.
Prosper Kasim (BHM) - #BHMvDET, 8/17/22: The Ghanaian attacking midfielder delivered a top-shelf finish at Protective Stadium, curling his finish into the top-left corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area.
Jackson Conway (ATL) - #LDNvATL, 8/20/22: The 20-year-old got creative with a brilliant overhead kick from near the penalty spot that picked out the top-left corner of the net at Segra Field for his seventh goal of the campaign.
Robbie Mertz (PIT) - #PITvNY, 8/20/22: The Hounds combined to deliver a picture-perfect finish as Alex Dixon’s beautiful first touch released him on the right to deliver a cross that Russell Cicerone cushioned back for a first-time blast from Mertz on the half-volley.
Josh Drack (LA) - #LAvCHS, 8/20/22: The left back delivered his third goal directly from a free kick this season, picking out the top-right corner of the net from a central position to earn Los Dos a result against the Battery.
