HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls II announced on Thursday the club had signed midfielder Henry Wise, and acquired defender Omar Valencia on loan from Panamanian club C.D. Plaza Amador, pending league and federation approval.

Wise most recently spent time with Watford F.C. U-23s, while also logging an appearance in the F.A. Cup with the club’s First Team during the 2019-20 season. The son of former England international Dennis Wise, the 22-year-old had previously appeared in 24 matches with Derby County FC U-18s, where he logged more than 1,300 minutes and scored two goals, while also previously having spent time at Arsenal FC and Queens Park Rangers during his youth career.

“We’re excited to have Henry join the team,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. “We think he will have an impact in our midfield group and bring experience to the team for the rest of the season.”

Valencia has appeared in eight matches for C.D. Plaza Amador in the Panamanian First Division. The 20-year-old made his senior international debut for Panama earlier this year in a friendly against Uruguay on June 11.

“We are pleased to be able to bring in Omar for the rest of the season,” said Hamlett. “He has good speed and tools on both sides of the ball, and we are excited to see what he can bring to the team at the USL Championship level.”

Valencia also featured for the Panamanian U-20s during the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, where he made four appearances.

“We are excited to bring in Omar into our squad,” said Red Bulls II Interim Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya said. “Omar is an exciting young player with a lot of great tools that we believe will be able to help our team for the rest of the season.”
