EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Thursday the club had signed goalkeeper Marco Canales, bringing aboard the Borderland native for the remainder of the 2022 USL Championship season. Details of the signing have not been made public per Club policy and is pending league and federation approval.

“Marco has been training with us all season and has had very good growth in training,” said Locomotive FC Head Coach and Technical Director John Hutchinson. “We added Marco to the squad to help with the depth of the goalkeepers ‘til the end of the season. He has shown great character in training, and we will be looking for that to continue.”

The 20-year-old rejoins Locomotive FC having previously been acquired by the club on loan from Liga MX club FC Juarez Bravos in April of the 2021 season. Throughout last year’s campaign, Canales trained with Locomotive FC goalkeeper coach JC Garzon, gaining experience in the Locomotive FC environment.

An El Paso native, Canales graduated from Cathedral High School before joining FC Juarez. While with Locomotive FC’s sister club, Canales helped lead the Bravos’ Third Division affiliate to a championship run.
