LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Monday that forward Abdellatif Aboukoura had been selected to the Egypt U-20 Men’s National Team ahead of the 2022 Arab Cup U-20. Aboukoura is a part of the roster that will compete in Saudi Arabia from July 20 to August 5.
Aboukoura has recorded four goals and one assist in seven appearances so far this season for Loudoun in the USL Championship, with a strike rate of a goal every 92 minutes. The 17-year-old USL Academy signing had previously recorded a pair of assists in nine appearances during the 2021 Championship season.
“It’s always an honor to represent the national team," said Aboukoura. "I’m really excited for my first FIFA tournament. I’m looking forward to coming back with some silverware and finishing the season strong with Loudoun United.
The draw for the 2022 Arab Cup U-20 has placed Egypt alongside Oman and Somalia in group D. The tournament, organized by the Union of Arab Football Association, split 18 teams across six groups, with the group winners and two best runners-up advancing to the knockout stage of the event.
