The Lowdown: San Diego Loyal SC and Las Vegas Lights FC will try to build on impressive home victories last time out as they square off for the first time this season. SD Loyal broke a four-game winless streak last Saturday night as it took a 3-0 victory against Hartford Athletic to kick off a four-game homestand through the end of the month as Charlie Adams and Thomas Amang each scored in the first half for the side. Amang has now scored three goals in the past two games to reach five goals this season, second to former Northern Ireland international Kyle Vassell, who sits tied for second in the league with eight tallies this campaign. Las Vegas also delivered a return to form at Cashman Field last Saturday with a 3-0 win against defending title holder Orange County SC that saw Danny Trejo and Cal Jennings each find the net. Trejo’s goal was his seventh of the season, while Jennings has four goals this campaign, and that duo combined with midfielder Danny Crisostomo could challenge the SD Loyal back line. The visitors will be without a pair of young standouts with defender Tony Leone and midfielder Christian Torres both selected to the Mexico squad for the Concacaf U-20 Championship that opens on Saturday in Honduras, but the side could see the return of winger Roberto Molina, who saw action for El Salvador on Tuesday night in a 1-1 draw against the United States in the Concacaf Nations League to clinch a place at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
