ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Monday that defender Jordan Scarlett had been called up by Jamaica ahead of the country’s Concacaf Nations League contest against Mexico on Tuesday night. The call-up is the first of Scarlett’s career, with the game scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

Now in his third season in Tampa Bay, Scarlett made his 70th appearance for the Rowdies in the club’s 2-1 win at Miami FC on Saturday night having been a mainstay in the club’s success over the past two campaigns. Voted to the USL Championship’s All-League Second Team in 2020, Scarlett previously competed for the New York Red Bulls II in the Championship and has made 136 regular-season appearances overall in the league.

Scarlett is set to join a pair of fellow Championship standouts in the Jamaica squad, with both Miami FC’s Speedy Williams and Phoenix Rising FC’s Kevon Lambert having started in the side’s two prior outings in Concacaf Nations League this window. Jamaica took four points from two games against Suriname to put itself in solid position to claim a top-two finish in Group A and advance to the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.

A victory on home turf against Mexico on Tuesday would keep the Reggae Boyz on top of the group, and in with a chance to reach the Concacaf Nations League Finals next summer.
