Seven days ago, veteran Indy Eleven defender Neveal Hackshaw had yet to record a goal at the senior international level for his native Trinidad and Tobago in 24 prior appearances.

After this past Friday afternoon, the 26-year-old could be considered on a hot streak.

Hackshaw’s second goal in as many games helped lead the Soca Warriors to a 2-0 victory against St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Concacaf Nations League B at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St. Vincent to keep Trinidad and Tobago in contention for promotion to League A and an automatic place in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Hackshaw had previously scored the only goal in Trinidad and Tobago’s 1-0 victory against the Bahamas last Monday night and broke the deadlock again for the side in the 17th minute against Vincy Heat. After winning possession in midfield, Hackshaw played forward to Levi Garcia, who delivered a good return pass as Hackshaw broke forward. The two-time Championship All-League selection controlled on his chest and lifted his finish over the goalkeeper for a fine finish.

San Antonio FC’s Shannon Gomez also played a part in Trinidad and Tobago’s victory, delivering a fine cross for Garcia to finish eight minutes later that staked the visitors to a two-goal lead. The win kept Trinidad and Tobago within a point of Nicaragua in Group C, with the two sides set to meet to close the group stage next March in Trinidad.

Other USL Championship, League One and League Two standouts contributed to success for their countries in the past three days, with New Mexico United’s Raddy Ovouka going the full 90 minutes at left back as Congo took a 1-0 win at home against The Gambia in Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying on Wednesday afternoon. Ballard FC’s Lesia Thetsane also played 88 minutes as Lesotho held the Ivory Coast to a 0-0 draw, earning its first point of qualifying.

Elsewhere, Detroit City FC’s Billy Forbes scored twice for Turks and Caicos in a defeat against Sint Maartin on Saturday evening, while Central Valley Fuego FC’s Francois Dulysse started and the trio of Ashkanov Apollon (Hartford Athletic), Carl Sainte (New Mexico United) and Christiano Francois (El Paso Locomotive FC) all came off the bench in a stunning 6-2 victory for Haiti against Guyana.

FC Tulsa’s Jorge Corrales helped Cuba earn a road shutout as the side defeated Antigua and Barbuda 2-0 to move the side on top of League B, Group A after consecutive victories, while Puerto Rico’s League One trio of Nicolas Cardona (Chattanooga Red Wolves SC), Ricardo Rivera (Union Omaha) and Jaden Servania (North Carolina FC) all started in a 3-0 victory against the Cayman Islands to kick off the side’s campaign in League C.
