A high-scoring week of action in the USL Championship produced some outstanding individual finishes – including a brilliant stoppage-time winner and an ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 selection – as well as some brilliant pieces of teamwork that highlighted Week 13’s contests. We’ve picked out five nominees, now you get to decide who gets the honor of being the Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week.
Voting runs through Thursday, June 9 at 12 p.m. ET.
Ottar Magnus Karlsson (OAK) - #OAKvOC, 6/1/22: The Icelandic striker delivered his league-leading 10th goal of the season in spectacular fashion, scoring in second-half stoppage time to lift Roots SC to victory with a free kick from almost 30 yards out.
Diego Abarca (ELP) - #ELPvHFD, 6/4/22: The 16-year-old’s first professional goal was brilliantly taken, curling a shot from just inside the top-right edge of the penalty area into the top-left corner to land on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 on Saturday night.
Michee Ngalina (COS) - #COSvLV, 6/3/22: The Congolese winger produced another outstanding finish this season with a bending shot from the top of the penalty area that picked out the top-right corner of the net at Weidner Field.
Robbie Mertz (ATL) - #ATLvRGV, 6/1/22: Mertz showed off beautiful technique in the first of his two goals against the Toros at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, striking a left-footed half-volley into the top-right corner of the net from 14 yards out.
Maxi Rodriguez (DET) - #PITvDET, 6/4/22: Rodriguez capped off a tremendous team move that began with a perfectly weighted switch across field by Michael Bryant to find Deklan Wynne on the left before the New Zealander drove to the byline and picked out Rodriguez for a great first-time finish.
