Rowdies, LouCity square off in Eastern Conference Final rematch to wrap up Week 13

A rematch of the past two Eastern Conference Finals in the USL Championship Playoffs wraps up Week 13 of the 2022 regular season on Sunday night as the Tampa Bay Rowdies play host to current conference leader Louisville City FC.

Here’s a look at all the action.

Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. Louisville City FC

The Lowdown: The Tampa Bay Rowdies will host Louisville City FC in the first meeting between the sides since last year’s Eastern Conference Final in the USL Championship Playoffs with the hosts looking to close the gap to LouCity, which enters the weekend on top of the East’s standings. LouCity regained top spot last Saturday night as Cameron Lancaster scored a pair of goals in his first start of the season to lead a 4-1 victory against FC Tulsa at Lynn Family Stadium. Lancaster moved into third place in the Championship’s regular season goalscoring list with his performance, and now sits on 73 regular season goals for his career in the league. Tampa Bay also met Tulsa in its most recent outing on Wednesday night but was held to a 1-1 draw at ONEOK Field despite dominating the chances throughout the contest only to be thwarted by a standout display by Tulsa goalkeeper Austin Wormell and a pair of chances that struck the woodwork. Laurence Wyke’s first half goal appeared it might be enough as the game entered its closing stages before the hosts grabbed an equalizer with seven minutes to go to keep Tampa Bay in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. The Rowdies’ attack has been lively overall over its past three outings, however, recording nine goals on 41 shots and 20 shots on target which should challenge a strong LouCity defense and goalkeeper Kyle Morton.

Spotlight Players
Tampa Bay Rowdies – Leo Fernandes:
The attacking midfielder has been one of the Rowdies most consistent sources of attacking success this season and will need to produce a big performance in the attacking third.

Louisville City FC – Wilson Harris: The young forward grabbed his seventh goal of the season after coming on as a second-half substitute against Tulsa, now the question will be whether he and Cameron Lancaster can be part of the same lineup.
