Red Bulls II sign Adam Najem to 25-Day contract

HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls II announced on Thursday the club had signed midfielder Adam Najem to a 25-day USL Championship contract pending league and federation approval. The 25-day period will end on Saturday, June 11.

A Red Bulls Academy product, Najem most recently played for FC Edmonton in the Canadian Premier League. The 27-year-old has recorded nine goals and 13 assists in 72 regular-season appearances in the USL Championship previously in his career, competing for the Philadelphia Union II, Memphis 901 FC, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. He has also spent time with Wigry Suwałki in Poland.

The Wayne, N.J., native played collegiately at the University of Akron following his time at the Red Bulls Academy. He signed with the Philadelphia Union in 2017 following the club’s acquisition of his MLS Homegrown rights from the Red Bulls and appeared in five games for the Union in Major League Soccer over his first two seasons in the professional ranks.

Najem has also competed internationally for Afghanistan, making 12 appearances overall and eight in 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. He spent time with Red Bulls II during the 2022 preseason, appearing in three matches and recording a goal in the side’s final exhibition contest.
