Kelly takes league’s assists lead as one of three Memphis players with goal, assist in 5-0 victory

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Jeremy Kelly, Laurent Kissiedout and Phillip Goodrum each recorded a goal and assist as Memphis 901 FC romped to a 5-0 victory against the LA Galaxy II on Wednesday night at AutoZone Park as Patrick Seagrist also notched a pair of assists for the hosts.

The hosts looked to jump on top early and Los Dos goalkeeper Richard Sanchez had to make a pair of good saves in the sixth minute to first stop a long-range effort by Kelly before recovering to keep out a rebound effort by Goodrum. The hosts also went close through Seagrist as his header in the 13th minute forced a tipped save around the right post, but from the ensuing corner kick Aaron Molloy’s low delivery was flicked on at the near post by Goodrum and turned home by Kissiedou at the top of the six-yard area.

901 FC doubled its advantage five minutes later when Kelly played a lateral pass at the top of the penalty area to Molloy, who created space for a low shot to the left corner as Kelly picked up his league-leading fifth assist of the season. The Galaxy II could have pulled a goal back three minutes before halftime only for Preston Judd to head wide from close range after a good cross from the right by Cameron Dunbar, but in the final minute before the break Kelly added a goal to his earlier assist, finishing off a low cross by Kissiedou that capped a beautifully executed 11-pass move upfield with a low shot to the right corner.

Memphis continued to pile on the goals in the 58th minute as Kissiedou held up play in the right channel and found Seagrist for a cross that was won by Goodrum for a glancing header into the right corner of the net. The hosts then continued to push in attack and with 16 minutes to go David Egbo had a point-blank effort saved by Sanchez, who ended the night with five saves to Memphis counterpart Trey Muse’s none. Memphis added its fifth with seven minutes remaining, however, as Egbo got his goal, angling home a first-time finish off a through-ball by Seagrist into the right corner of the net to cap an emphatic display by the hosts before Los Dos' Carlos Harvey was sent off in the final minute to cap a miserable night for the visitors.
