The Lowdown: The Charleston Battery and Memphis 901 FC are both looking to rebound from defeats last time out as they square off for the first time this season. The Battery are still looking for their first win since the opening day of the regular season campaign on March 12, since when the side has gone 0-5-1 after a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham Legion FC in its last outing on April 27 at Protective Stadium. Aidan Apodaca found the net for the visitors in that contest for his second goal of the season, but the Battery overall are still yet to record multiple goals in a game so far this season. Memphis, meanwhile, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Miami FC this past Saturday but remain above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference with their most recent outing ending a five-game undefeated streak for the club. 901 FC has won four of its seven league outings overall with Phillip Goodrum leading the side with three goals and both Laurent Kissiedou and Jeremy Kelly sitting with three assists apiece. Charleston enters having won both prior meetings between the sides when they met in the 2019 campaign, but 901 FC will be keen to continue the host’s struggles as they look to move into the top four in the Eastern Conference with a win.

Spotlight Players
Charleston Battery – Joe Kuzminsky:
The Battery’s goalkeeper has conceded 12 goals in six appearances so far this season and sits with a +3.42 Goals minus Expected Goals mark, both of which need improvement if the Battery are to turn things around.

Memphis 901 FC – Jeremy Kelly: The winger has been a solid two-way performer for 901 FC so far this campaign, winning 10 tackles in addition to his three assists and eight chances created, and will be a player the Battery need to watch closely.
