Forward records goal, assist in 2-0 victory before 11,093 fans at Lynn Family Stadium

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Wilson Harris had a goal and assist as Louisville City FC took a comprehensive 2-0 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC before a crowd of 11,093 at Lynn Family Stadium in the first meeting of the season between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference standings.

Both sides had early chances with LouCity’s Sean Totsch sending in a curling effort that was saved in the third minute before Pittsburgh’s Alex Dixon had a narrow-angle shot turned wide 10 minutes later by Louisville goalkeeper Kyle Morton. The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute, though, as they seized on a wayward pass in the Pittsburgh end quickly fed Amadou Dia into the left channel for a low cross to the back post where Harris was on hand to slide home for his fifth goal of the season.

The Hounds tried to hit back quickly as Russell Cicerone shot just high and wide of the left post, but six minutes before the halftime break LouCity struck again when Harris played Enoch Mushagalusa into the right side of the penalty area for a shot that took a slight deflection off a sliding defender and found the bottom-right corner of the net. Harris then had a chance just past the hour-mark to add a third for the hosts but didn’t get full purchase on his finish off a cross by Brian Ownby that allowed Hounds goalkeeper Jahmali Waite to make the save.

Harris forced another good save by Waite with 20 minutes to go as the visitors tried to push more numbers forward as on a counterattack the LouCity forward shot toward the right corner, and the Hounds goalkeeper came up with another good save to keep out Corben Bone with 15 minutes to go. The Hounds’ hopes of mounting a comeback diminished five minutes later when Dane Kelly was sent off, reducing the visitors to 10 men, and from there the hosts saw out the win to run their undefeated streak to nine games to start the season.
