Luis Solignac scores twice to lead El Paso to a 3-1 win on the road at Segra Field

LEESBURG, Va. – Luis Solignac scored a pair of second-half goals as El Paso Locomotive FC rallied from a halftime deficit to take a 3-1 victory against Loudoun United FC on Saturday night at Segra Field as Diego Luna also found the net for the visitors.

Loudoun opened positively and had a pair of chances inside the opening 10 minutes as first Sami Guediri fired over after the hosts turned over possession in the attacking half before Houssou Landry had a shot deflected wide. United took the lead just before the half-hour mark, however, as El Paso’s Matt Bahner was whistled for a handball as he slid to block a shot in the penalty area, allowing Guediri to step up and slot home from the spot into the left corner of the net.

El Paso came into the game more as the half progressed, and United States U-20 international Luna almost delivered an equalizer two minutes before the break as he wove through defenders in the penalty area but had his lifted finish turned away by Loudoun goalkeeper Joe Rice. The visitors were given their own chance to level the game from the penalty spot, though, as Rice was ruled to have brought down Solignac after a through-ball by Luna, and the Argentine converted with a low shot to the right corner.

Luna then put Locomotive FC ahead with nine minutes to go, holding off a defender to receive possession just inside the top-right edge of the penalty area before rolling the ball onto his left foot to finish into the left side of the net. The 18-year-old went close to a second two minutes later as his low shot to the right corner was saved by Rice. Loudoun was reduced to 10 men with three minutes to go as Azaad Liadi was sent off for a hard foul, and in stoppage time Solignac wrapped up the win for the visitors with a low near-post finish from the right side of the penalty area for his second goal of the night.
