The eighth week of the 2022 USL Championship season wraps up on Sunday evening on the west coast, where the LA Galaxy II play host to a Phoenix Rising FC side that is on the longest current winning streak in the league.

Here’s a look ahead to the action.

LA Galaxy II vs. Phoenix Rising FC

Venue: Dignity Health Sports Park
Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: LA 25%, PHX 52%, Draw 23%

The Lowdown: Phoenix Rising FC will try to continue a current four-game winning streak in the league as they face an LA Galaxy II side that has lost only once in its last five outings to move to the edge of the playoff picture in the Western Conference. Los Dos rallied to take a 1-1 draw against Las Vegas Lights FC in its last outing as Dante Campbell scored a second-half goal at Cashman Field to earn the visitors a result. The Galaxy II have historically had their struggles against Phoenix, going 6-16-2 all-time against their visitors in the regular season, but last campaign the side did claim one of its wins on home turf in a 3-0 result that saw all three goals arrive in the final 15 minutes after the visitors were reduced to 10 men just before halftime. Phoenix will be looking to avoid a repeat of that performance and enter off a dramatic 2-1 win against Miami FC that saw Luis Seijas score an outstanding late winner that featured both on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 and claimed the Championship’s Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week award. Seijas has now scored a team-high four goals this season for his new club, with fellow new arrivals Greg Hurst, Claudio Repetto and Marcus Epps each having tallied twice.

Spotlight Players
LA Galaxy II – Preston Judd:
One of the goalscorers in Los Dos’ victory against Phoenix a season ago, Judd has found the net twice so far this season and could be a key player if the hosts are to get another positive result.

Phoenix Rising FC – Aodhan Quinn: The veteran midfielder is set to make his 200th regular season appearance in the Championship should be play on Sunday, and leads Rising FC with three assists so far this campaign.
