Galaxy II score second-half goal to earn 1-1 draw against hosts at Cashman Field

LAS VEGAS – A second-half goal by Dante Campbell earned the LA Galaxy II a 1-1 draw against Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday night at Cashman Field after Danny Crisostomo had given the hosts the lead in the first half.

The Galaxy II had the first good chance of the night in the 16th minute when Cameron Dunbar drove forward in off the right flank and shot toward the left side of the net where Las Vegas’ Tomas Romero made the save. Eight minutes later, Danny Trejo got a big chance to put the hosts ahead as he was played in on a one-on-one opportunity only for LA goalkeeper Eric Lopez to make an excellent low save. Lights FC took the lead in the 32nd minute, however, as Frank Daroma received possession in the right side of the penalty area and after jockeying with his defender, he laid a pass back for Crisostomo to fire first time from the top of the penalty area into the top-left corner of the net.

Los Dos went close to an equalizer seven minutes into the second half when Hamza Barry found Michael Salazar in the left side of the penalty area for a curling shot that hit the crossbar, while a few minutes later Taylor Davila fired a long-range free kick that deflected off the edge of the wall and only narrowly went wide of the left post. The visitors pulled with 16 minutes to go, however, as Dunbar drove a good cross from the left through the six-yard area that Campbell headed home at the back post to even the game.

Dunbar then had a chance to put the visitors ahead with nine minutes to go with a powerful shot from the top of the penalty area that flashed wide of the right post, while Las Vegas almost carved out an opportunity of its own when Morten Björshol got past his man on the right but couldn’t find a teammate with a low cross into the six-yard area. Los Dos had the final chance of the game on a free kick deep in stoppage time, but after Barry’s shot from 25 yards went over the crossbar, the final whistle arrived soon after to leave honors even.
