League’s leading scorer scores only goal in 1-0 victory for Las Vegas at Cashman Field

LAS VEGAS – Danny Trejo scored his league-leading sixth goal of the season as Las Vegas Lights FC handed Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC its first loss of the campaign with a 1-0 win at Cashman Field on Saturday afternoon.

Pittsburgh applied early pressure on the hosts, but Las Vegas was able to withstand it as the Hounds were unable to carve out a clear-cut chance. Instead, Lights FC began to come into the game and in the 27th minute took the lead after Roberto Molina turned over possession in midfield and quickly found Trejo, who controlled centrally and cut onto his right foot before shooting low to the right corner from the top of the penalty area.

The score remained the same going into the break, and Molina had a long-range effort saved soon after the second half began. The Hounds, meanwhile, tried to apply more pressure but Las Vegas goalkeeper Tomas Romero was equal to a pair of efforts by Alex Dixon and Dane Kelly just past the hour-mark to keep the hosts ahead. Kelly threatened again with 10 minutes to go with a headed finish that went just over the crossbar off a corner kick by Luis Argudo, but the visitors were unable to find a breakthrough late as Lights FC held firm for its fourth win of the season.
