TAMPA, Fla. – New Mexico United’s Neco Brett has earned the USL Championship’s Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month award for March as his deft chipped finish in United’s rivalry victory against El Paso Locomotive FC on the second weekend of the season finished top of the poll conducted over the past weekend.
An offseason arrival, Brett delivered a brilliant finish to start New Mexico’s 2-1 comeback victory against Locomotive FC at Southwest University Park, running onto a flicked header by Daniel Bruce before chipping the goalkeeper from 30 yards. The Jamaican recorded three goals in the opening month of the season, helping United to an undefeated start through its first four games of the campaign.
Brett’s goal earned 32 percent of the poll conducted at USLChampionship.com to claim the award. His teammate Harry Swartz took second place on 25 percent for his headed finish off a well-conceived set piece routine against Las Vegas Lights FC on the opening weekend of the season. Monterey Bay F.C.’s Seku Conneh finished third on 23 percent for his headed finish against Phoenix Rising FC which served as MBFC’s first goal in club history on March 12.
