TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball, honoring five of the top performers throughout the opening month of the 2022 season as they take their place on the ballot.
Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:
The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, April 14.
Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.
Danny Trejo, Las Vegas Lights FC – Trejo recorded three goals and three assists, averaging a goal every 113.7 minutes over four appearances, to lead the league in goal contributions over the opening month of the season and in Goals Added at a +2.06 mark.
Jake LaCava, Tampa Bay Rowdies – LaCava scored three goals in four appearances for the Rowdies after his preseason arrival, averaging a goal every 84.7 minutes as the side made an undefeated start to the season.
Douglas Martinez Jr., Sacramento Republic FC – The Honduran international notched two goals and two assists in three games while also recording seven chances created, averaging a goal every 134.5 minutes, and posting a mark of +1.44 Goals Added.
Neco Brett, New Mexico United – Brett landed at his new club and recorded three goals in four appearances, averaging a goal every 118 minutes, while also ending the month ranked second in Goals Added in the league at a rating of +1.67.
Jackson Conway, Atlanta United 2 – Conway recorded the first hat trick of the Championship season, also notched an assist, and ended the month in the top six in the league in Goals Added with a +1.42 mark.
