Dos Santos, Dalgaard score first-half goals in 3-0 win as visitors hold hosts without shot on target

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies struck twice in the first half through Steevan Dos Santos and Sebastian Dalgaard on their way to a 3-0 victory against Atlanta United 2 on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium as the visitors posted 10 shots on goal while holding Atlanta without a shot on target in the contest.

The Rowdies had chances early and thought they had taken the lead in the 20th minute but the offside flag went up to deny Jordan Scarlett’s header into the left corner off a free kick by Lewis Hilton. A minute later, however, the visitors took the lead as Dos Santos broke onto a slipped pass by Leo Fernandes into the left side of the penalty area and flicked his finish over the advancing goalkeeper.

Tampa Bay added a second in the 31st minute as Dalgaard lashed home a finish into the top-right corner after the visitors had kept a corner kick alive inside the top of the penalty area, and then scored a third just past the hour-mark when Jake LaCava was played into the penalty area by a beautiful back-heeled pass by Sebastian Guenzatti and tucked home a finish into the left side of the net. From there, the visitors closed out a second consecutive shutout in an imperious road display.
