Goals by Ray Serrano, Wilson Harris earn 2-0 victory at MSU Soccer Park

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Louisville City FC earned its third consecutive victory to start the season as goals in either half by Ray Serrano and Wilson Harris earned a 2-0 result against the New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday night at MSU Soccer Park.

LouCity took the lead in the 18th minute when Enoch Mushagalusa played a give-and-go in the left side of the penalty area before delivering a low cross that hit a defender in the six-yard area before the loose ball was put away by Ray Serrano for his first goal in the club’s colors. The hosts went close to equalizing just past the half-hour mark when Serge Ngoma had a shot from the top of the penalty area deflect and loop toward net, but Louisville’s Kyle Morton made a good fingertip save to turn the ball over as LouCity took the lead to the break.

The visitors twice almost doubled their lead early in the second half as first Mushagalusa was denied well by New York goalkeeper AJ Marcucci, and the Red Bulls II shot-stopper came up big again to turn away a header by Sean Totsch off the ensuing corner kick. LouCity threatened again late on as Brian Ownby clipped a cross into the left side of the penalty area for Napo Matsoso, whose volleyed finish went off target. With four minutes to go the Red Bulls II were reduced to 10 men as Lamine Conte was sent off after pulling down Wilson Harris as he broke toward goal just outside the penalty area, and Harris delivered from the ensuing free kick, curling his finish just inside the left post to wrap up all three points with his second goal of the season.
