Las Vegas Lights FC defender Antonio Leone and forward Christian Torres have each been selected to join the Mexico U-20 Men’s National Team this week as it prepares for the Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship this summer with a three-game trip in Uruguay.
Both players are currently on loan from Los Angeles FC for a second consecutive season, with Leone having gone the full 180 minutes in Lights FC’s opening two games of the season this year. The central defender recorded nine clearances and one blocked shot in Lights FC’s 2-1 victory against Phoenix Rising FC this past Saturday at Cashman Field while completing 29 of 37 passes.
Torres has also appeared in both games for Las Vegas this season, logging 54 minutes and notching one key pass. A season ago, Torres recorded three goals and one assist for Las Vegas in 25 appearances, while Leone recorded one goal and three assists in 23 appearances. Both previously competed for the Mexico U-20s at the Revelations Cup in Guanajuato, Mexico last November to open the new cycle leading to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
