Red Bulls II Bring Aboard O’Vonte Mullings

2022 MLS SuperDraft selection was standout for Florida Gulf Coast during college career

HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls II announced on Friday the club had signed forward O’Vonte Mullings ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Mullings was selected 20th overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls after spending the past four years at Florida Gulf Coast University. He logged 4,697 minutes, 28 goals, and seven assists over 57 matches.

“O’Vonte is a great pick from the draft,” said Red Bulls II Head Coach Gary Lewis. “His speed is vital with the position he’s playing. In terms of humility and being a good person, he fits the mold of what we’re looking for.

Mullings was named the ASUN Conference Player of the Year for the 2021 spring season in addition to being voted to the All-ASUN First Team and All-Tournament Team the same season. He was also a unanimous selection to the All-ASUN First Team in 2019 and was named the ASUN Freshman of the Year in 2018.

“I’m happy to join this wonderful club,” Mullings said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity from the staff and I can’t wait to accomplish a lot this year with the players and get to work.”

A native of Canada, Mullings also competed in USL League Two during his collegiate career as he played for the Sounders U-23s during the 2019 season. Mullings recorded three goals and one assist in nine appearances for the side
