SEASIDE, Calif. – Monterey Bay F.C. announced on Wednesday the club had signed forwards Christian Volesky and Seku Conneh ahead of its inaugural USL Championship campaign this spring. The signings are pending league and federation approva.

A veteran of the USL Championship, Volesky has recorded 45 goals and 10 assists in 156 regular-season appearances over seven seasons. He claimed the league title in his first professional season in 2015 with the Rochester Rhinos, having previously been selected 32nd overall by Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers FC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. Over two seasons, Volesky recorded 19 goals in 47 regular-season appearances for the Rhinos.

In 2017, Volesky made the move to Saint Louis FC, and has also competed in the Championship for OKC Energy FC, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. He now joins Monterey Bay F.C. after spending the 2021 season in Iceland with Keflavík.

“Christian is a very experienced USL Championship player and has scored a high number of goals,” said Monterey Bay F.C. Sporting Director and Head Coach Frank Yallop. “He has versatility to his game and will be a big asset to us.”

Conneh began his professional career in 2014 in Eerste Divisie, the second tier in the Netherlands, where he played for both Fortuna Sittard and TOP Oss. The 26-year-old then made his first appearances in the Championship in 2016, joining the Philadelphia Union II, where he recorded 12 goals in 43 appearances.

After ensuing stops in South Korea and Serbia, the Liberian international returned to the Championship in 2020 with Las Vegas Lights FC, where he played under current Monterey Bay F.C. Sporting Director and Head Coach, Frank Yallop.

“Seku is an exciting center forward,” said Yallop. “Good athleticism and strength paired with an eye for goal. He adds a dynamic I felt is important for how we want to play.”

Though raised in the Netherlands, Conneh represents Liberia in international play. He made his national team debut in 2015 against Ivory Coast in a FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifying match. The forward was most recently called up for qualifiers ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
