New El Paso Locomotive FC signing Harry Brockbank helped Bolton Wanderers earn promotion to EFL League One this past season.

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Friday it had signed English defender Harry Brockbank ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season. The 23-year-old joins from EFL League One club Bolton Wanderers. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

A Bolton native, Brockbank began his youth career in 2005 in the Wanderers Academy, where he helped the club’s U-23 side win the Professional Development League title in 2018. Brockbank the moved into the club’s First Team ranks, making his debut in the EFL Championship during the 2018-19 season. More recently, he made 18 appearances during the 2020-21 season as the side earned promotion into EFL League One for the current campaign.

“Harry [Brockbank] is exactly what we need,” said John Hutchinson, Locomotive FC Head Coach and Technical Director. “He is young, but he has also been the captain in Bolton for a long time. He has good leadership and a great energy which we want to bring to this club but most of all he wants to be here. He wants to be part of this club and what we are trying to achieve. He is ambitious; he wants to do well here and see what other opportunities develop in other leagues. He wants to grow and become a better footballer and we want to help make him a better footballer.”

As a versatile and ambitious defender, Brockbank has played primarily as a right back during his career, but has also played in other positions in the back line. Brockbank made 36 appearances across all competitions for Bolton prior to his move to El Paso.

“I can’t wait to get him here and I know the players can’t wait for him to get here as well so we can keep building towards the season,” said Hutchinson.
