TULSA, Okla. – FC Tulsa announced on Tuesday it has signed Brazilian defender Gabriel Torres, pending league and federation approval, adding another piece to its potential back line for the 2022 USL Championship season.

Torres spent past two seasons with fellow USL Championship club Hartford Athletic and proved to be one of the most dangerous chance creators in the league at his regular left back position. In 29 regular season matches, Torres registered five assists for Hartford and 24 chances created.

A notable part of Hartford’s trip to the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs, Torres made 14 appearances for the club with 12 starts. The 25-year-old helped lead the side to a first-place finish in its group and a first postseason berth in club history.

Before joining Hartford Athletic to kick off his professional career, Torres competed collegiately at the University of the District of Columbia for three seasons, where he recorded 34 goals and 21 assists in 55 appearances. During this time, he also competed in USL League Two for The Villages SC during the 2018 season, where he helped the side claim the Southern Conference making 17 appearances across the regular season and playoffs. His performance earned Torres League Two All-League and All-Southern Conference honors.

“I’m humbled for the opportunity to be representing this amazing club and the city of Tulsa,” said Torres. “I’m ready to give my best to help the team to achieve its goals this season!”
