ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Wednesday the signing of Haitian youth international Carl Sainté ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season.

Sainté, a midfielder born in Grand-Goâve, Haiti, led Haiti to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019, where he scored one of the goals of the tournament during the group stage against South Korea.

“Carl has the ability to be a top professional in this league,” said New Mexico United Head Coach and Technical Director Zach Prince. “I look forward to working with him and to him capitalizing on his potential. We are very excited to add Carl to our group.”

Sainté most recently competed for Violette AC in his home country, and helped the side claim the First Division Championship in the 2020-2021 season.
