El Paso Locomotive FC's Luis Solignac and Josue Aaron Gomez each recorded 10 goals apiece in the 2021 USL Championship regular season.

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Wednesday it had re-signed forwards Josue Aaron Gomez and Luis Solignac for its fourth USL Championship campaign, pending league and federation approval. The two players finished tied for the team-lead with 10 goals apiece in the 2021 USL Championship regular season.

Gomez has spent the past three seasons with Locomotive on loan from its Liga MX sister club, FC Juarez Bravos. Through those first these seasons on loan, the 27-year-old has established himself as one of the better forwards across the league, playing 71 games for 4,373 minutes across all competitions. The first Locomotive FC player to be voted as the Championship’s Player of the Week in Week 17 of the 2019 season, Gomez has recorded 23 goals and nine assists over the three years, earning a position as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer during the regular season. His standout 2021 campaign performance stands as his best over the last three years, having scored 10 goals and five assists, earning a nod on the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 27.

Solignac became a crucial part in the attacking third for El Paso in his first season at the club this year. The Locomotive FC 2021 Fan Award Attacker of the Year and Most Valuable Player quickly put himself in the record books as he scored the fastest goal in club history after just 18 seconds against Rio Grande Valley FC on May 22 for his first goal in Locos colors. One of the few ironmen of the 2021 season, Solignac played in all 33 matches played through regular season and playoffs in 2021, recording 2,275 minutes as he led the attack with 10 goals and seven assists. His work rate at the top of the Locomotive FC attack earned the Argentine forward two appearances on the USL Championship Team of the Week, including being voted the league’s Player of the Week in Week 15.

Gomez and Solignac return as the 10th and 11th players to have played for El Paso Locomotive FC in 2021, keeping a large core of the roster that reached a third consecutive playoff appearance while finishing third overall in the league.
